ICAO Language Proficiency Test Level 4 5 6 online
Test Procedure
Part 1: Dialogue (15 Minutes)
-
With open questions and photographs the examiner (LPE) initiates a dialogue. As the candidate becomes more
fluent the examiner becomes more passive
-
Topics are personal introduction, work, routine and non-routine situations and, of course, flying whereby
the content is adapted to the aviation backgroud of the candidate
Part 2: Computer-Based-Test (30 Minutes)
-
A random selection of up to 30 recordings is played. The candidate gives an appropriate verbal "answer" to
each recording
-
The role of the examiner in this part is to answer questions of understanding where necessary or to replay
the recording
General:
-
The examiner (LPE) is present during the whole test, either physically or online via
Zoom
-
Both parts of the test are recorded electronically. This is a legal requirement. It enables a neutral and
repeatable assessment of the language proficiency for the candidate, the testing organisation and the supervisory body
-
The recordings are assessed separately by a linguistic expert (LPLE). This second examiner is also a legal
requirement
-
The final rating takes into account the ratings of both examiners. In the case of disagreement the
linguistic expert (LPLE) has the final word
-
The candidate normally receives the certificate showing the level achieved within two working days of the
examination
